Sally Hansen BLU

This is one of the polishes I bought just before Christmas from the Sally Hansen Hi-Definition Collection. I went back about a week later and all that was left were the orange and yellow polishes from this collection. A few weeks after that and there were none left. Luckily I got in right at the start :)
Sally Hansen BLU - Natural Light

This was three coats and i was quite surprised because I had been warned that these were quite sheer (although in saying that this is still the only one I have tried yet). I really like this blue. I couldn't find anything else like this in my collection. It took a little while to get used to the slightly longer brush (the stalk bit) but after that was fine. No clean up needed.

I'm looking forward to trying out some more from this collection. I think it really is a summer collection, as the colours are quite bright.

Don't forget my Zoya giveaway. Entries close tomorrow night.

OPI The show must go on

Two weeks ago I went and saw the movie Burlesque. I thought it was quite good to be honest. I am glad they picked a singer and turned them into an actor, as opposed to using a singer with some one else singing for them. Plus Cam Gigandet who plays the love interest Jack is amazingly hot. I recommend seeing just to stare at him. Even with the black eyeliner he wears in the club he is still super hot.

Here is The show must go on from the 2010 OPI Burlesque collection. It is only one of two polishes I got from this collection that were not the glitters.

OPI The Show Must Go On - natural llight

This is three coats and easy to apply. It is a great Red duo-chrome, with flashes of yellow and orange, and also has that glass fleck feel to it. I think its great, but there seems to be a few polishes out the like this with the same pairing of colours (e.g. OPI Crimson Carol and OPI Thanks so muchness - I think I need to do a comparison now)

Hope your all having a good weekend.

Color Club Pure Energy

Quick post for today. I have been super busy lately and feel guilty for not posting more recently. I had just managed to grow my nails to a good length when in one day they all managed to break :( and I always feel bad about posting pics with uber short nubbins.

I love the Color Club Electro Candy collection. It is one of my favourite collections, and doesn't contain a single colour I don't like.

Here is the blue polish from the collection.

Color Club Pure Energy - sunshine

This is a great medium shimmer blue, that has a neon blue/green/gold flash running through it. I love it. This is a collection of neons that you can wear any day and not feel slightly over the top in.

Nail Polish + Jewelery = Awesome!

Ginger Kitty (aka Tracey) is an amazing jewelery maker from America who uses nail polish to create stunning custom pieces of jewelery for each individual customer.

You can get custom made bracelets, necklaces, rings and earrings, all made with your favourite nail polishes.

Tracey made two different braceletes in the colours I selected and then let me pick which of those two I wanted. This was all for US$29.95. And it took less than two weeks to arrive in New Zealand from the time I had selected which one I wanted.

This is what I selected:

It is made from a mixture of China Glaze Nova, Fairy Dust, Let's do it in 3d and black nail polish.
It was hard to capture in a photograph but it is holographic and sparkles like a rainbow in the sun.

I love it!

I cant wait to order more. You can check out the GingerKitty store on Esty here, or GingerKitty's Blog here.

OPI Chery Blossom

Wow working full time is hard work.

I think the biggest problem is getting up early. Hopefully in a week or so I will be ok. At the moment I come home and fall asleep on the couch before dinner. I am shattered.

I have managed to do my nails every night though. Usually I decide what I am going to wear the next day and wear a polish to match that. I am surprised that no one at my office has said anything about my nails/polish yet. I havent gone too far out with the polish yet, but as its summer I think I will get more into the holos soon.

A polish I wore a wee while ago was OPI Cherry Blossom. This is part of the Japan exclusive Yokohama collection. Lisa bought this back for me from Japan for christmas! (I miss being able to talk nail polish all day long with Lisa while we were at uni together)

Over there they only have one of each polish on display and you have to ask for a bottle of the ones you want. they also come in little clear square boxes. The polishes also have an extra label on the side of the bottle like this:

This is a lovely light pink colour, that has that shimmery glass fleck texture. This was three coats, and is great to work with.

OPI Cherry Blossom - Sunshine

OPI Cherry Blossom - Natural Light

The second picture is more colour accurate, but the first shows the glass flack texture more. (enlarge the pictures by clicking on them to get a better look.)

Color Club Pardon My French Collection

Today was my first day at my new job! Scary stuff. I didn't want to scare them off with my nail polish addiction so I started off wearing Color Clubs I Believe in Amour from the Pardon My French collection.

Left to Right: Pardon my french, I believe in Amour, Hot Couture, Oh Naturale, Turn the other Chic, Take me to your chateau, Si vous Please!

The Pardon my french collection is a limited release in New Zealand. This is collection is only being included as a standard item in the large full collection stands, which at the moment are all based in the Auckland Region. Fingers crossed I can find them somewhere in Wellington later on because I really want to get the blue ones from this collection.

Color Club I Believe in Amour - natural light

This is 4 coats. I found this polish really runny and a bit streaky so needed four coats to get the right colour and evenness over the nail. It is a pretty colour but seems to be pretty close to I think in pink from the 2010 OPI softshades collection. I havent done a comparison on the nails, but in the bottle they look the same.

The pardon my French collection is designed to be layered and mixed and matched with cremes and glitters in matching colours in the collection.

Color Club Hot Couture over I believe in Amour

Hot Couture is an awesome pink glitter in a pink jelly base. Above is one coat over I believe in Amour. It brings the creme underneath alive. I haven't tried Hot Couture alone but feel it would be way too sheer to wear by itself. It is really designed to be layered.

Again I am wearing the fake nails :) I have taken these off now and did not wear them to my new job. I think I am slightly too retarded to type and text with them on.

Stylish blogger award

Jenny from Polishology tagged me for this blog award the other day (also check out her blog for the latest Katy Perry Collection swatches).

Here are the rules for this award:

1. Thank and link the person who gave you this award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers
4. Contact these bloggers to tell them about this award!

Im struggling to think of 7 things about myself so I am going to list the first things that come to my head right now.

1. Tomorrow I start my first proper full time job as an analyst at the Ministry of Education in New Zealand. I am freaking out and very nervous! Its a great job and a great way to get experience for me to move onto better things in the long run.

2. As a continuation on from 1. I have spent the last 6 years at Victoria University in Wellington studying undergrad and postgrad there. I finished my Masters in Statistics a few months ago and am going to miss Uni and all the great people there. The Stats department was quite small and I enjoyed hanging out with all of our lecturers and other students.

3. I wish I had better nails sooooo much. Mine are short and thin and while they grow relatively fast they are funny shaped and I wish they were like those of the people I see in other blogs.

4. Nail polish is really hard to get in New Zealand and what we can get is really expensive. We pay NZ$20-25 for OPI, Orly and Essie polishes. Color Club polishes are NZ$16 and BYS is NZ$5-10. That is pretty much all we can get in New Zealand. Kind of sad really.

5. I love Chris! We have been together almost 9 years and it is 13 months until we get married (next February) and the wedding planning has recently stepped up a notch. Our parents are helping out, but that means they have to approve and agree to everything first. Once we get further along on in the planning I will post some things.

6. I am currently watching the 3rd season of The Big Bang Theory for about the 10th time. I love this show and when there is nothing else on TV I play it in the background while I do work.

7. I also love my cat (Keera). I am 24 and don't have kids so she is my baby. She is almost 7 and follows me everywhere (even to the toilet). She sleeps on the end of my bed and loves to cuddle. She is also a giant woss.

Okay so that wasn't too hard. :P

I think most people have done this by now, so I tag those who have not yet told us 7 things about them. Leave a comment if you do get around to sharing your 7 things.

Never Ending Obsession Zoya Giveaway!

Most people know know that Zoya reached 20,000 Likes on Facebook and is giving followers 3 free zoya polishes. All they had to do was pick their favourite 3 polishes and pay for shipping.
I think this is amazingly kind of zoya, but unfortunately like many others, I was unable to do this because I do not live in America.

So for those of you like me who wanted some zoyas but couldnt because you live somewhere else, I am giving away 3 of my zoya polishes.

These are all 99% brand new and have only been swatched on nail wheels. (Pretty much all of my zoyas are untried at the moment. I bought heaps when I was in America but never really got into them as much as I should have.)

So here it is - The Never Ending Obsession Zoya giveaway!

Left to Right: Yvette, Kotori, blyss.

The rules are simple:

1. You must be a follower.
2. You can not live in America.

Post a comment below with your email address, the name you follow as and what country you are in.

This giveaway will run until the end of January, and the winner will be announced at the start of February. Good luck!

Color Club Age of Aquarius

Color Club Age of Aquarius is another polish from the summer Poptastic collection. These retail for $16 in New Zealand and are now also being sold in Amazon surf stores.

Color Club Age of Aquarius - natural light

The whole Poptastic collection is made up of bright creme polishes. Some are neon and some are just bright. Age of Aquarius is a medium aqua/teal colour. It matched the top I was wearing when I bought it. This is three coats. The formula of this was slightly on the runny side for my tastes, but is still easy to apply.

Again here I am rocking the broadway fake nails. As I said the other day the white tips on them tends to bubble underneath polish. This is in no way the polish fault but more the fact that these nails aren't designed to be worn with polish over the top.

Broadway Nude French Nails

Happy New Year everyone!

So I am still wearing fake nails at the moment because mine are just in horrible condition. I am actually contemplating getting acrylics because mine are so terrible and hard to maintain.

These are Nude French Nails by Broadway Nails. They are super easy to use and the nail glue that comes with them is super strong. These will stay stuck on for ages.

They look great. I wish my nails looked like this all the time.
The only problem with them comes when you put polish on top of them. The white tips on them crackle and it looks like the polish on top is bubbling. I haven't worked out a way to stop this yet. I have some swatches coming up using these nails (and the consequential bubbling).
