Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone!

I am spending this long weekend cleaning the entire house and gardening.

My nails have taken a serious battering with that and a lot of stress this past few weeks so instead of Easter nails, here are some Easter cupcakes that I learnt how to make in a class last week.

(sorry for the life of me this wont turn around the right way.
Its saved facing the right way but blogger is adamant that it wants to be sideways)

piCture pOlish Paradise

piCture pOlish Paradise is one of the newer collaboration shades produced by piCture pOlish and Liquid Jelly.  Originally this was to be a limited edition shade, but it was announced that this will be a core shade now.

piCture pOlish Paradise - sunshine

piCture pOlish Paradise - shade

Paradise is a dark teal jelly base with blue-teal shimmer and very fine purple glitter, and pink holographic hexagon glitter. This is three coats. The pink glitter looks very sparkly in the sun, but is hard to capture on camera.  I think this is an interesting mix of colours and is totally unique to my collection.

Dollish Polish Penny...Penny...Penny

I have never wanted to own a collection more than I did when I found out about Dollish Polish releasing a Big Bang Theory Polish.  I am the biggest fan of the show ever. I have watched every episode at least 20 times.and know all the words of by heart. It is my favourite show of all time.

Two failed attempts to grab the collection on Llarowe meant a very unhappy Lisa, until about a week later when Dollish Polish announced they would be released on her own website.  The other Lisa took one for the team and got up at 5am (NZ time) to grab us both a set of this collection.

Dollish Polish Penny... Penny... Penny... - Natural Light

Penny.. Penny... Penny... Is a pale cream jelly base, with a copper shimmer running through it and square and hexagon glitter scatted through out. This is three coats that applied easily.  The base is milky  so each coat covers up the glitter from the layers underneath.

I cant wait to try out the rest of these polishes, not really because of their colours or make up but because I love the names that go with them.

Color Club Ho-Ho-Holly for St Patrick's Day

Happy St Patrick's Day!

Even for us non Irish, it seems appropriate to wear a green polish on our nails today. Today I am wearing Ho-Ho-Holly from the 2012 Winter Affair collection.

Color Club Ho-Ho-Holly - Sunshine

Color Club Ho-Ho-Holly - Shade

Color Club Ho-Ho-Holly - Natural Light

Color Club Ho-Ho-Holly is a forest green glass effect polish with gold shimmer running through it (perfect colours for St Patrick's Day). This was two coats and it applied perfectly. It is a blue based green, which is evident when you take it off and the cotton swab turns blue from the polish.  This makes it even more complex, with blue green and gold in this polish.

Here are some comparisons of similar polishes in my collection:

These are all three coats.
Ho-Ho-Holly is the darkest.
Ivanka does not have a golden shimmer running through it.

The Color Club Winter Affair collection will be available in New Zealand in April.
If you are in New Zealand you could win the entire Winter Affair collection here.

Zoya Surf Collection

The Zoya Surf collection was one of the 2012 Summer collections released last year by Zoya, along with the Beach collection.

Zoya is super hard to find in New Zealand and super expensive. I have never seen it in retail stores, although my beauty salon does have some for sale.  All my Zoyas so far have come from overseas.

I found four of these polishes on clearance at Trade Secrets in Toronto last October. Unfortunately the two I wanted the most (Carly and Zuza) were the two they did not have in stock any more.

All of these swatches are 2 coats.  They all applied easily and have brushes that work perfectly for my sized fingers.  Unfortunately I did have an issue with Kimber staining my nails a slightly darker pink than normal after a days wear.

Sephora by OPI Living in Cin-namon

Sephora by OPI Living in Cin-namon - Natural Light

Living in Cin-namon is a dark redish brown from the Sephora by OPI 2012 Fall Spice Market Collection.  This is two coats and the formula was great. It is a dark red/brown metallic finish.  This one is actually more exciting in the bottle. It looks like is should be duochrome with light golden red flashes, but it doesn't translate onto the nail.

Lisa

Edit: This is a dupe for OPI Geman-icure by OPI in colour, however the formula is a bit thinner.
