Today I tried doing a patchwork manicure.
I decided to do it all in different shades of blue.
First layer was 3 coats of OPI What's with the Cattitude? from the Shrek collection from the start of the year (I cant believe I am actually starting to develop a fondness of creme polishes!!)
I used sellotape to create the lines for this design. I used a quick dry top coat in between layers but still waited ages before putting the next coat on so as not to rip the bottom one off with the sellotape. The second layer is Color Club Pure energy from the Electro Candy collection. the final layer was OPI Catch me in your net from the 2010 summer Flutter collection. The second and third layers were both done using one thick coat of polish.
I am quite happy with the way this turned out for my first try. I like the idea of using different shades of the same colour to do these manicures. I cant wait to try the same thing with different colours.
Lots of Love
Lisa
p.s. I stuck the sellotape on my hand to get rid of the excess stickiness first before using it.
Great color combo! You did a great job, I need to try this soon!
ReplyDeletethanks :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute design, and I love the color combination! I may also have to try a similar design soon! :)
ReplyDeleteit is actually really simple to do. the biggest thing is making sure each layer is completely dry :)
ReplyDeleteI've tried doing something similar things before, and masking tape works really well! Just as effective, but less resistant to taking a layer of polish off :)
ReplyDeleteDon't worry mon mon, masking tape is on my shopping list to try out :)
ReplyDeleteGreat combination! :)
ReplyDeleteNice mani,I love the colours :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is really cool and makes me want to get Catch me in the net!

May I also ask what tha name of the polish shown in the banner is? It absolutely gorgeous!
Snowydrops the polish in the banner is OPI "I Pink I Love you" (NLV22) which was a Japanese exclusive - I keep meaning to do a post on it. and I definitely recommend Catch me in your net or orly Halley's comet.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Lisa! I'm going to see if I can find I Pink I Love You! I will also keep a look out for Catch me in your net or Orly's Halley's Comet - I didn't know they were dupes.
