A England Princess Sabra (Tristam eyes)

I need to make the most of the sun we have left in New Zealand before winter sets in. Each weekend I hope for sun, as its the only time I can photograph polishes outside. By the time I get home from work each night the sun is gone and its freezing cold.

Luckily there was a little bit of sun the other day and I managed to get these swatches done of  A England's Princess Sabra (Tristam Eyes). FYI Tristam is Adina's (the owner of A England) cat - you can find pictures of him on the A England Facebook page.

The A England website says that Princess Sabra (Tristam Eyes) is:
The heart-stoppingly beautiful daughter of the king,
whose misfortune it was to have her name drawn as the next sacrificial victim of the dragon.

The color is described as:
Alluringly feline golden olive bronzite
the sacrificial Princess constantly shifts with her elusive, myriad hues.

To me it is a pretty olive green holographic polish. This was two coats. The formula is perfection and dry time is great. In the shade it is a soft olive colour, but in the sunshine turns into a magical golden holographic rainbow of awesomeness.

Color Club Magnetic Force

Color Club Magnetic Force - sunshine
Color Club Magnetic Force - shade

Magnetic force is from the Color Club collection also called Magnetic Force. It is a deep dark plum colour. This is two coats, the first applied normally and the second coat applied one finger at a time and then transformed using the magnet on the end of the bottle cap.  This is relatively easy to do, but a little time consuming as you have to do each finger separately.

As I said in my last post on the topic, Color Club polishes only have one magnet pattern which is a disappointment.

Have a good weekend.

This polish was sent to me for review.

Lilac Holographic Comparisons + bonus kitten pic

So I have 6 lilac holographic polishes in my collection - and none of them are dupes. YAY this makes me feel good because then I don't feel guilty about having any double ups :)

 My Lilac Holographic Collection

1. A England Princcess Tears
2. China Glaze IDK
3. Color Club Fashion Addict
4. Milani Hi-Res
5. OPI Designer Series Original
6. OPI Sanderella

These are all three coats, however most holographic polishes only need 2 coats.  IDK is the only linear holographic polish in my lilac collection. Fashion Addict is by far the lightest. Princess Tears flashes a grey green duochrome in certain lights.

And a bonus picture of our new kitten, Cooper who is about 14 weeks old now.

A England Princess Tears

A England Princess Tears - Sunshine
A England Princess Tears - Sunshine
A England Princess Tears - Sunshine
A England Princess Tears - Shade

Princess Tears is from the 2012 The Legend Collection from A England. All of the A England polishes have a story behind them. This is from the A England website:

PRINCESS TEARS - Upon being tied to a tree, there to await her fate, the princess shed glistening tears of everlasting sorrow.
As the twin lilac trails of tears stream with an incandescent glow down our doomed heroine's face, they are made even more poignant by luminous grey/ green flashes.

A England is a light lilac purple which flashes a green grey duochrome colour in the bottle. In the sun it is an amazing lilac rainbow. However in the shade this polish isn't very exciting.  Luckily it was sunny today so I was able to appreciate the holographic awesomeness of this polish. This is two coats. The formula on this polish is amazing. It applies beautifully.

My First Glitter Gradient

Can you believe I have never done one of these before?? This is over yesterday's China Glaze Sweet Hook manicure.  I used China Glaze Fairy Lights, China Glaze Nova and OPI Servin' Up Sparkle.

I really like these and will be doing more of them. Hopefully with a bit more practice I can get them looking perfect.

China Glaze Sweet Hook

Sweet Hook is from the China Glaze Electropop 2012 Spring collection.  It is well and truly autumn (fall) here now, but today is sunny and I am not ready to put away my summer colours yet.

China Glaze Sweet Hook - Sunshine

China Glaze Sweet Hook - Shade

Sweet Hook is a pink toned lilac creme.  This is three coats. I found my bottle to be quite runny and therefore harder to work with than I would have liked. Dry time was usual but if you had too much on the brush, and flooded the nail it took longer to dry.

I bought my bottle of this from Transdesign. Although there are places in New Zealand selling these, just have a look at the "Where to Buy" tab at the top of the page.

Spotted in NZ: Butter London Lippy

From the Butter London Website:

Introducing LIPPY by butter LONDON. LIPPY is a range of long-wearing, lacquer-like lip glosses in shades to match our famous nail lacquers. Like the butter LONDON nail lacquers, LIPPY colours are rich and heavily pigmented for a look that is deliberate, high fashion, and luxe. LIPPY does not contain parabens, petroleum, phthalates, sulphates, or bismuth. If you’re being LIPPY, look the part.

I found these in Farmers today.

Not surprisingly an untouched full display. The Lippy's are NZ$35.95 each and the polishes (as always) are NZ$34.95. I snapped a photo of the price to show you. (for those interested NZ$35 is US$28.50, so a full set of Lippy and Polish would set you back US$58.  This is why I shop online!)

In better news Farmers has Orly in sale for buy one get one free. And OPI is buy 2 get one free.
Also check out the Warehouse for three OPI Shatter polishes for $30, two for $24 and one for $15.  They have all current colours available and massive displays in store of them.

I am hoping to be back to regular blogging with in the next few weeks. I have so much to show you all.

Im a little distracted....

This is the newest edition to our household.

His name is Cooper. We got him from the Wellington Cats Protection League. We think he is about 12 weeks old, but are not really sure.

Our other cat (Keera) is having a hard time dealing with it. At the moment we are keeping them separate, but its taking a lot of energy to keep them both happy.  Google says it can take up to three months before they are friends. Should be an interesting few weeks at least.

If any one has introduced a kitten to another cat before and has any tips please please please let me know.

Needless to say, the nails are taking a backseat to this little cutie. Sorry :(

My Prismatics Arrived!

Look at these beauties that arrived in the mail.

Left to right - Prism, Ray-diant, Polarized, Liquid Crystal, Full Spectrum, Optical Illusion

The press release for the Prismatic collection said:
Array your nails in a myriad of color this spring with China Glaze®’s limited edition Prismatic nail polish collection! Inspired by the colors formed by the refraction of light through a prism, Prismatic by China Glaze® combines glitter and holographic particles to create the ultimate eye-catching, 3-dimensional manicure.

Bursting with color and dimension, Prismatic shades include:
Ray-Diant
Greenish-gold shimmer filled with specks of silver, pink, green, orange and blue
Polarized
Silver metallic sheen sprinkled with yellow, pink, orange and green glitters
Liquid Crystal
Bright blue holographic with purple tint dusted with silver, gold, green, pink and orange
Prism
Grape purple holographic gleams with pink shimmer and glitters with pieces of pink, blue, green, orange, silver and gold
Full Spectrum
Baby pink bursts into holographic magenta to party with silver, gold, blue, pink and green particles.
Optical Illusion
Aqua green glimmers with a hint of purple filled with pink, yellow, silver, orange and green flecks

This is the last lot of nail polish I am allowed to buy until our trip to North America in September/October. Its going to be hard, but I have to think that the price of one polish here equals about 4 polishes in America.
