Butter London Sparkle, Sparkle Holiday Lacquer Collection

I know this post is a little late, considering this was a holiday collection, but late has got to be better than never right?  I bought this Butter London set while in America (I cant actually remember anymore exactly where, but I think it might have been at Macy's in Vegas) for US$36. Rumours are that it is now selling for about half that price on clearance.

The back of the box says:
SPARKLE, SPARKLE!
This season is all about making a glittering statement.
Turn up the fashion on your holiday wardrobe
with these gorgeous gems

Butter London Jack the Lad - sunshine

This is three coats. It is a dark green shimmery glitter that occasionally flashes lighter green and golden.

Butter London Scuppered - Sunshine

This is also three coats, but this polish had a thin consistency.  It is a copper base, with fine copper and copper/pinky coloured shimmer and sporadic bits of slightly bigger green glitter.

Butter London Shambolic - Shade

I thought this polish would be my favourite of the set, but it turned out not to be (that honour went to Jack the Lad).  This is three coats.  There is little purple and pink glitter in a funny grey tinted base, with slightly bigger pink and lighter pink hexagon glitter.  The base colour is the thing that put me off this polish.

All up these are not my favourite Butter Londons, but I subcumbed to the glitter and sparkle in this set, and when in Vegas.....(also the fact that I got three for the price we pay for one Butter London polish here in New Zealand I cant complain).

Icing Radio Superstar

When I was in Canada and America I took the opportunity to extend the range of brands in my collection. Icing was one of the brands I picked up some polishes from.

Icing Radio Superstar (over Color Club Take me to Your Chateau) - Shade

Icing Radio Superstar (over Color Club Take me to Your Chateau) - Sunshine

This is two coats of Icing Radio Superstar over Color Club Take me to Your Chateau.  It has small blue glitter, big fuchsia glitter and silver stars in a clear base.  I really like this polish and it looks totally cute over the light blue. The only problem was that the stars were hard to fish out and place on the nails as they seem to sink to the bottom of the bottle.

Color Club Look Book

Color Club Look Book - Sunshine

Look Book is from Color Club's Fall 2012 Collection In True Fashion.  This is two coats. It is a bright red creme polish that applies easily and dries quickly.  I used this one at Christmas time, as it is my only red creme.

This collection has not made it to New Zealand yet. I was lucky enough to be given a few of these polishes from the people of Color Club in America when I visited them last year in New York.

Ruby Wing Tide

Tide is another polish from the Ruby Wing 2012 colour changing collection.  The name doesn't seem to match the polish, to me tide is associated with the sea and should be blue/teal/green/grey coloured.

Ruby Wing Tide - Shade/Inside

Ruby Wing Tide - Outside/Sunshine

Inside Tide is iridescent glitter inside a very very pale pink see through jelly like base. Outside and under UV light Tide darkens and turns into a dark pink/red. The glitter is harder to see and becomes slightly matte.  This one is interesting because inside feels like it should just be a top coat, but I think any base colour used may alter the colour the polish turns outside.

Some of the Ruby wing polishes are currently on sale in New Zealand for NZ$9.90 at USANailsOnline (but Tide is still $19.90).

Spotted in NZ: Sinful Colors

I spotted these in Life Pharmacy on Cuba Street in Wellington today.
They are retailing for NZ$5.99
This display was two sided and had a good selection of polishes to chose from,
with different polishes on both sides of the rack.

Cirque Hellebore

"Cirque is an artisanal line of hand-blended nail polish made in New York.
The name Cirque, meaning ring or circle, represents the color wheel and
the endless color possibilities in the continuum.  Creator, Annie Pham,
sought to develop colors that transcend those of conventional brands
by experimenting with unique pigments and raw materials."

Hellebore is from the new Cirque Objet d'Art Collection released at the end of 2012.

Cirque Hellebore - Natural Light

Cirque Hellebore - Shade

This has two small sizes of light green glitter in a clear base. What makes this special is the sparkly light pink bits of glitter scattered through out the polish (click the last photo to enlarge to see the pink bits of glitter).  This was three coats, which was enough to cover the nail with no gaps in the glitter. This can easily be worn like this by itself, or layered over other polishes as a glitter top coat.

Hellebore retails for US$13.  You can purchase Cirque polishes here.

Ozotic Beam 906

Ozotic 906 is from the 2012 Beam collection. This is the purple to pink version of the four polishes from this collection.  This collection was "Inspired by 'reflecting luminous light beams' hence the moonlight colours with sparks!"

Ozotic 906 over black - sunshine

Ozotic 906 over black - natural light

Ozotic 906 over black - natural light

This is two coats of Beam 906 over a black creme.  It is has multicoloured glass flecks that flash from pink to purple.  It is very delicate looking in the bottle, but kind of mesmerizing to watch all day long.

This is available in New Zealand from Gracie Lou.

Ruby Wing Myth

Myth is another colour changing polish from Ruby Wing.  Luckily we actually have some sun here at the moment, so I was able to swatch this.  It has not really been a great summer so far yet.

Ruby Wing Myth - shade

Ruby Wing Myth - sunshine

This is three coats. It applies nicely like a regular creme polish.  Three coats was needed as it was still a bit sheer after only two.  This is a dusty light pink inside or in the shade. In the sun it darkens to a dusty mauve pink.  It takes between 30 and 60 seconds to full change in the sun, and a little longer to fade in the shade back to the lighter pink.  It is really cool to watch.

You can find Ruby Wing polishes for sale in New Zealand here.

Sephora by OPI It's Real 18k Gold Top Coat

Happy New Year Everyone!
I hope you all had a good night.

2012 was pretty big for me. I got married, got an awesome new job and went on amazing holiday around America and Canada.  I don't think 2013 can really top that, as at the moment there are no plans for anything big happening.

Sephora by OPI It's Real 18k Gold Top Coat over black - sunshine

I picked this up while I was in America in October, once I found out that the OPI version was retailing for NZ$74 in New Zealand.  This was US$30, so was about half the price of the one back home. This is three coats over a black base. It is really fine little flecks of 18k gold in a clear base.  I like the effect, but I find gold hard to match with many other colours.
