Color Club Cosmic Fate + Comparisons

Cosmic fate is the last polish I have to chow you from the 2013 Color Club Halo Hues collection.  The final three polishes in the collection are Beyond (Black), Kismet (Green) and Eternal Beauty (Purple).

Color Club Cosmic Fate - Sunshine

Color Club Cosmic Fate - Sunshine

Color Club Cosmic Fate - Shade

This is three coats, altougyh two would be perfectly adequate.  Like the other Halo Hues polishes, this has a thinner formula, that applies easily and gives good coverage.  This is a pure orange holographic. It doesnt seem too pink or too yellow, and because of that is quite unique in my collection.

And here is a comparison with all my other orange/peach holographic polishes.

It is hard to see here, but Cosmic Fate is the purest orange I have. The other polishes either lean more pink or more yellow.

I am off to Sydney tomorrow to hang out with my sister for a few days.
See you when I get back.

Color Club Miss Bliss + Comparisons

What is better, when today is absolutely pouring with rain and there is thunder and lightening, than looking at swatch pictures I took yesterday when it was so sunny you could wear holos and have rainbows on your fingers?  Actually it is kind of depressing because I know it is going to be a while before it is that sunny again.

Color Club Miss Bliss - Sunshine

Color Club Miss Bliss - shade

Miss Bliss is the medium pink holographic polish released in the second batch of Color Club Halo Hues at the start of this year.  This is three coats, but like Over the Moon yesterday, you can easily get away with two.  The formula on this is slightly on the thin side, but applies easily and dries very quickly.  Again, these polishes don't look very impressive in the shade, but in the sun they are amazing!

Here is some comparisons of my medium pink holographic polishes. Color Club Miss Bliss is clearly the most holographic.  It also gives good coverage, as you can not see through the swatch stick like you can with many of the other polishes in this picture.

Whoah Holy Holo Batman! Look at that Color Club Sparkle!

Color Club Over the Moon + Comparisons

WE HAD SOME SUN TODAY!!!!!!

Its almost winter here, and pretty unusual for us to have a sunny weekend day at the moment. (Although it is pouring with rain now).  So I figured it was time to swatch some holographic polishes.

Color Club Over the Moon - Sunshine

Color Club Over the Moon - Shade

Over the Moon is the blue holographic polish from the 2013 release of the Color Club Halo Hues. This newer set of 6 polishes, were darker than the first set released.  This is three coats, although two would be fine - I just am obsessive compulsive about doing three coats.  The formula on these are on the thin side, but are easy to apply and dry quickly.  The above photos clearly show the difference that sunlight makes to the appearance of this polish.  In the sunlight it is an awesomely strong holographic rainbow.

Below is a comparison with some of my other blue holographic polishes.
All swatches are three coats.

You can see that in the sunlight the two Color Club holos give the most coverage and are the most opaque of the polishes. Over the Moon is unique amoungst my 100 holographic polishes.

Color Club Halo Hues are available in New Zealand now.

Color Club Ho-Ho-Holly for St Patrick's Day

Happy St Patrick's Day!

Even for us non Irish, it seems appropriate to wear a green polish on our nails today. Today I am wearing Ho-Ho-Holly from the 2012 Winter Affair collection.

Color Club Ho-Ho-Holly - Sunshine

Color Club Ho-Ho-Holly - Shade

Color Club Ho-Ho-Holly - Natural Light

Color Club Ho-Ho-Holly is a forest green glass effect polish with gold shimmer running through it (perfect colours for St Patrick's Day). This was two coats and it applied perfectly. It is a blue based green, which is evident when you take it off and the cotton swab turns blue from the polish.  This makes it even more complex, with blue green and gold in this polish.

Here are some comparisons of similar polishes in my collection:

These are all three coats.
Ho-Ho-Holly is the darkest.
Ivanka does not have a golden shimmer running through it.

The Color Club Winter Affair collection will be available in New Zealand in April.
If you are in New Zealand you could win the entire Winter Affair collection here.

Color Club Look Book

Color Club Look Book - Sunshine

Look Book is from Color Club's Fall 2012 Collection In True Fashion.  This is two coats. It is a bright red creme polish that applies easily and dries quickly.  I used this one at Christmas time, as it is my only red creme.

This collection has not made it to New Zealand yet. I was lucky enough to be given a few of these polishes from the people of Color Club in America when I visited them last year in New York.

piCture pOlish Splash

Splash is one of the new glitters recently released by piCture pOlish as part of their glitter collection.

piCture pOlish Splash over Color Club Pure Energy - Shade

piCture pOlish Splash over Color Club Pure Energy - Sunshine

Here is 2 coats of piCture pOlish Splash over 2 coats of Color Club Pure Energy.  It is small and medium pieces of blue glitter in a clear base.  To be honest I wasn't overly impressed with Splash. It needed two coats just to get this light layer of glitter over the base layer.

Splash is available from piCture pOlish retailers, including Gracie Lou in New Zealand (NZ$13.50).

Color Club Cloud Nine

Color Club Cloud Nine - Sunshine

Cloud Nine is the light pink holographic polish released recently by Color Club as past of the Halo Hues collection.  It is a light pink linear holographic.  This is two coats.  It applies nicely and dries quickly.  The holographic-ness in this is very strong. Even indoors they look holographic and outside in the sun it blows your mind.

There was a lot of hype around the release of this collection in America. It was delayed for a time and we can only assume it was to perfect the formula or increase the production of this collection.  Halo Hues are available in North America now.  The plan is for them to be released early next year in New Zealand.

Ruby Wing Zen Garden

"If nothing ever changed, there'd be no butterflies." - Ruby Wing

Ruby Wing is a line of polishes released by the same people who make Color Club polishes a couple of months ago.  I was lucky enough to get given 6 of these polishes while I visited the Color Club factory in New York while I was on holiday at the start of October.  I know, I know I totally haven't blogged about that yet. I tried to, but it was so long ago that I cant really remember it any more.  But I will give you a quick summary here now.

I was extremely lucky to be able to have a tour of the Color Club Factory.  The Forsythe Cosmetics Group is a family run business, that started in 1979, and is about a 45 minute drive from the middle of New York.  They do everything all inside one building, from marketing, to developing the polishes, to hand sticking on the labels and shipping out the polishes.  Polishes are made to order, so there is not a huge pile up of stock, and a polish is continually produced when needed.  Not only are Color Club polishes produced here, but a range of other polishes with other brand names. I was amazed at how small the building was and how such a big player in the nail polish world could fit their entire production into the building.

Anywho here is some swatches of Ruby Wing Zen Garden. Ruby Wing polishes contain a unique photochromic compound that changes colour in UV light. So they are different colours outdoors and indoors.

Ruby Wing Zen Garden - Indoors

Ruby Wing Zen Garden - Outside

This is AMAZING! The polish starts off as a light lilac crème and once I stepped outside I saw it change and get darker and turn into a taupe crème.  I tried to get my husband to come outside and have a look, but he was not excited at all (unfortunately he doesn't understand the little things that make me happy). This is three coats, and the polish applied just like a regular crème polish.

You can get these polishes in New Zealand in Amazon Surf stores or online from USA Nails Online.  Those in America can purchase these polishes online from the Ruby Wing website.

Color Club Platinum Record

I am still sticking to New Zealand themed manis this week.  Today's is silver and Black.
Platinum Record is from the recently released (well recently in New Zealand) Backstage Pass Collection.

Color Club Platinum Record - Sunshine

Color Club Platinum Record - Shade

This is one coat over a two coats of black creme. The thing that makes this silver glitter different from others is that it is not holographic. It is just plain silver glitter. It has large and medium sized silver glitter in a clear base.  The big pieces of glitter are quite big and do curl because of their size.  This polish is rough once on, so does require a couple of coats to make it smooth to the touch.

I think this polish is better suited as a top coat, and can imagine it may be a challenge to do a whole mani with just this polish (especially because I like the nail to be completely covered in glitter).  As a top coat it is not too hard to remove (being a glitter) but would be as a complete mani.
