OPI Cuckoo for this color + Nfu Oh 52 Layering

This is the last of the three polishes I got from the OPI 2010 Swiss Collection.

OPI Cuckoo for this color - sunshine

It is a dark shimmery green, with silver shimmer through it. Application was easy, this was three coats. I had this on for a couple of hours, but it wasn't making me as happy as it should. It seemed to be missing something.

So I added 2 coats of Nfu-oh 52 (posts on this polish to come at a later date)

Click on the pictures to enlarge so you can see the flakey amazingness of this combination.

This was sooooo cool. It is like a dark green version of OPI Merry Midnight. Different lights brought out the different colours of the Nfu-Oh - you can see the green and blue versions in the two photos above.

How did you feel about Cuckoo for this color by itself?

I'm crazy busy at the moment trying to finish my thesis (I was at uni till 10pm last night) but I'm getting there - Just need to find a job now.

Tags and a plea for help

I was tagged with these two awards by Lacquer Ware for Tips and Toes (sorry hun I dont know your real name). she made the effort to tag those of use who have blogs that she likes but are unknown to many others out there. Thanks so much - I appreciate any one who can help get awareness out about my blog and my little country at the bottom of the world (New Zealand - and no we are not part of Australia)

So the 10 things I like most in the world at the moment:
  1. Nail Polish (I think this is obvious but I am deadly serious, I have developed serious shakes at the moment because I have had no money to buy any more)
  2. Chris - My Fiance (Hes had a hard time lately and gotten sick, but we are dealing with it. Its been 8 years and I still love him to pieces)
  3. Keera - my beautiful black cat. She is my baby and I love her to pieces, I worry when she goes outside at night and I love it when I come home and all she wants to do is cuddle.
  4. Farmville - yes that annoying game on facebook - I am completely addicted, I have been playing since the start and it is a great waste of time, but a good way to procrastinate at Uni.
  5. The Big Bang Theory - This is the most hilarious TV show ever. LOVE it. If you haven't seen it you are seriously missing out. even watching the dvd for the 8th time I still love it and cant stop laughing.
  6. Disney - Anything Disney - I grew up as a Disney kid, I have all their animated movies on DVD and still love watching them. The one problem is we don't have any Disney shops in New Zealand so no cool Disney merchandise :(
  7. Reading - I read at least one book a week, cant go to sleep without reading. And I like my books in paper format.
  8. Sleep - enough said - especially when Chris isn't snoring :)
  9. Caramel Slice - Gooey chocolatey caramely goodness
  10. Gossip Girl - The drama, the passion its all amazing (I was a huge fan of the OC and this is just as great)
So I hope you learned a little about me this way. I am going to tag anyone who hasn't already done this and wants to :)

And on that note I am going to make a plea to anyone living in America - Here in New Zealand we do not get Nicole OPI polishes and I am desperate for the Gossip Girl Collection.

I will gladly make a swap/or pay for these polishes If any one can get a hold of a set of these, I will be forever grateful. For anyone interested I can easily get BYS and Nfu-Oh polishes here in New Zealand.

China Glaze Kaleidoscope him out + Konad

China Glaze Kaleidoscope him out - Sunshine

This is gorgeous. Three coats which applied easy. These are not as opaque as the OMG holographics and the holographicness is more spread out and sporadic (not linear like the OMG polishes). It is more holographic than this in real life but my camera didn't want to capture it. China Glaze make no mistakes with their holographic polishes - they are all amazing in my opinion.

I used konad plate m78 and konad black polish to stamp this image. This was the first time I have ever done a whole nail konad.

Oh its so pretty I just want to stare at it all day long. I had a few issues with clean up (I think I need to get a stronger polish remover as the black was so hard to get off - so please excuse the mess)

Hope you all had a good weekend.
Happy Fathers Day!

OPI The Color to watch and I try some nail Art

Todays Polish is OPI The Color to watch from the new 2010 Fall/Winter Swiss Collection.
This was the one I was most looking forward to, but in fact was the most disappointed with :(

OPI The Color to Watch - Sunshine

This is 3 coats. In the shade they look fine and look like they are opaque, but get into the sun and you can see that 3 coats is not enough. You can still see my nail through it. I wasn't happy, and really didn't want to have to put more coats on. I think I am just going to use this on top of creme polishes now.

On a redeeming note this does have a pretty shimmer to it.

Blue and red/pink sparkles through out make it a pretty shimmer. If you have this polish were you happy with it?

Nail art is not big in New Zealand at all. You cant really buy anything nail art related in store. I ordered my first CM Nail Art pen thing (what are these actually called? with the thin brush used for nail art......?) Anyway I am just starting out and here is the first thing I have done with it.

In case you haven't heard there was a huge (7.1) earthquake in Christchurch (about 4 hours from where we live) and my brother is at uni there at the moment. Thankfully no one died, and all my family down there are ok, but blimey they always warn us a big one will come (our country is basically a giant fault line) and it is freaking scary.

Sephora by OPI Sparkle Me Silver Top Coat

Sephora by OPI Sparkle Me Silver Top Coat -sunshine

To be honest I was a little disappointed with this polish. It is thick and gluggy clear jelly with sparse long silver glitter. The glitter does not cover the nail very well. This is 2 coats over black and was so thick on top of the black. It was hard to even out and leave any glitter on the nail. I'm not sure how often I will wear this again, but it will probably not be much. On a good note the glitter is pretty and does sparkle like lots of little rainbows on the nail - I just don't think it is worth the effort.

Back to the thesis writing and job hunting *sigh*

OPI Diva of Geneva

This is my favourite of the three Swiss (OPI Fall/Winter 2010 Collection) polishes I have.

OPI Diva of Geneva - sunshine

This didn't look that exciting putting it on it the shade, but once you step outside - oh boy it is beautiful. It is a purple/plum/maroon colour that sparkles with read and blue shimmer. This was two coats, which covered and applied to the nail perfectly. I must say I really do appreciate those prowide brushes.

The bottle looks like the polish should have a slightly orangey/purple duochrome to the polish - but I didn't manage to see it at all on the nail, just in the bottle :( - but with the shimmer it is already pretty enough.

Compressing my images to make loading faster is losing the detail so here is a close up of the amazing shimmer in this:

OPI Diva of Geneva - close up

These are not really needed on the great colour, but I added some little silver flowers to this. They were meant to stick by themselves but didn't, so I had to secure them on the regular way with top coat afterwards. (You can see a bit of the duochrome I was talking about in the bottle here at the bottom of the picture)

I'm having a shitter of a day - I got turned down for a job - because I was too qualified so now I am majorly bummed and in three weeks will be finished with Uni and unemployed - not a good prospect :(

Lots of Love
