Color Club Miss Bliss + Comparisons

What is better, when today is absolutely pouring with rain and there is thunder and lightening, than looking at swatch pictures I took yesterday when it was so sunny you could wear holos and have rainbows on your fingers?  Actually it is kind of depressing because I know it is going to be a while before it is that sunny again.

Color Club Miss Bliss - Sunshine

Color Club Miss Bliss - shade

Miss Bliss is the medium pink holographic polish released in the second batch of Color Club Halo Hues at the start of this year.  This is three coats, but like Over the Moon yesterday, you can easily get away with two.  The formula on this is slightly on the thin side, but applies easily and dries very quickly.  Again, these polishes don't look very impressive in the shade, but in the sun they are amazing!

Here is some comparisons of my medium pink holographic polishes. Color Club Miss Bliss is clearly the most holographic.  It also gives good coverage, as you can not see through the swatch stick like you can with many of the other polishes in this picture.

Whoah Holy Holo Batman! Look at that Color Club Sparkle!

Zoya Surf Collection

The Zoya Surf collection was one of the 2012 Summer collections released last year by Zoya, along with the Beach collection.

Zoya is super hard to find in New Zealand and super expensive. I have never seen it in retail stores, although my beauty salon does have some for sale.  All my Zoyas so far have come from overseas.

I found four of these polishes on clearance at Trade Secrets in Toronto last October. Unfortunately the two I wanted the most (Carly and Zuza) were the two they did not have in stock any more.

All of these swatches are 2 coats.  They all applied easily and have brushes that work perfectly for my sized fingers.  Unfortunately I did have an issue with Kimber staining my nails a slightly darker pink than normal after a days wear.

Glitzology Bun In The Oven

Glitzology Bun In The Oven - Sunshine

Glitzology Bun In The Oven - Shade

This polish is super glitter! The swatches are only two coats.  Glitzology creator Stacy says that this polish was inspired by "traditional" boy and girl baby colours. It features pink and baby blue holo glitter, with pastel pink, blue and white squares and hexes in various sizes in a clear base.  The glitter all lies flat and can be smoothed out with a top coat.  I was really surprised by how full of glitter this polish was, and the fact that it was still easy to apply and get even coverage.

Glitzology polishes are available on Etsy here and at the moment if you use the code SINGLEANDHAPPY you can get 50% off your order (until Friday 22 Feb).

Happy Valentine's Day to my lovely followers!

Here is some heart themed nail art I did over the weekend.
The base pink is OPI I think in Pink.
Index finger is just a little purple heart.
Middle finger is stamped with Konad Red polish and Bundle Monster plate 317.
Ring finger is coated with a layer of Darling Diva Ménage à Trois.
Little finger is stamped with Konad Red polish and Plate Konad M3.

Glitzology Cupid's Arrow

My Glitzology order arrived on Monday, just in time for Valentine's Day.  One of the polishes I ordered was Cupid's Arrow.

Glitzology Cupid's Arrow (over OPI If You Moust You Moust) - Natural Light

This is one coat over OPI If You Moust You Moust.  According to the Glitzology description, Cupid's Arrow features a mix of pink and magenta glitters, with pale pink satin hexes, red squares and hexes, magenta shreds, and pink and pale pink hearts! Mine also had a bunch of white hearts in it. The hearts sink to the bottom, so before I used mine I left the bottle upside down over night and the hearts were easy to pull out this way.  One coat was very glitter packed and all that was needed. I am not sure that this polish would look good by itself, it seems much more suited to be a top coat.

Glitzology polish is available here on Etsy.

Darling Diva Polish Ménage à Trois - worn 3 ways

Ménage à Trois is the second polish for Valentine's Day from Darling Diva Polish.

Darling Diva Ménage à Trois - Sunshine

Here is three thick coats of Ménage à Trois by itself.  It is made up of a bunch of different sized and toned pink glitter in a pink tinted base.  The slightly bigger bits of glitter are pink holographic pieces.

The formula of this was good and not thick, with a good amount of glitter in the polish.  I was using decent thickness coats and it was getting pretty thick on the nail by three coats and I ended up topping it with Gelous and Seche Vite to smooth it down a bit.  There wasn't any glitter poking out, it was more that it was getting thick and starting to freak me out.  After three coats, it was not completely opaque and was getting harder to apply.

I find this polish is much better as a glitter top coat.

Darling Diva Ménage à Trois over BJ - Shade

Here is two coats of Ménage à Trois over its matching pink polish BJ (from yesterdays post here).  Ménage à Trois is made up of darker pink glitters than BJ is.

Darling Diva Ménage à Trois (over OPI I Think in Pink) - Sunshine
Wow! we had a lot of sun yesterday and it makes this polish
seem a bit weird looking, but here you can see the sparkling
of the holographic bits of glitter in the polish.

Darling Diva Ménage à Trois (over OPI I Think in Pink) - Shade
This one is more colour accurate than the photo above

Lastly here is two coats of Ménage à Trois over OPI I Think in Pink, which is a light pink jelly polish. Here you can tell that the base for Ménage à Trois is tinted, as it darkened the base OPI pink.

Darling Diva BJ

Valentine's Day is just around the corner so its time for some Valentine's themed polishes.

First up is Darling Diva Polish BJ.  This is one of two polishes from the Darling Diva Valentine's collection.  (This polish is named after the creators soon to be sister in law Bobbi Jo, and not that other thing you were thinking)

Darling Diva Polish BJ - Sunshine

Darling Diva Polish BJ - Shade

BJ is a bright Barbie pink holographic polish, that also has bigger bits of holographic pink glitter scattered through out.  This is two coats and the formula is divine. This is the first Darling Diva Polish I tried of the bunch I ordered and I am impressed, especially with the formula.

You can purchase Darling Diva Polishes here on Etsy.

Ruby Wing Meadow

Meadow is another polish from the Ruby Wing colour changing collection.  This is the only metallic polish in this collection.

Ruby Wing Meadow - inside

Ruby Wing Meadow - outside

First off, I think they named this polish wrong. Meadow to me means grass and should have been a green polish.

This is three coats. It applies like a regular metallic polish and is slightly brush strokey.  The colour change in this one is obvious, as it changes from silver in the shade to a mauve-pink metallic in the sun.

I am not sure if I mentioned this before but these polishes still change colour with a top coat on, and can be a major distraction if you sit near a window at work.

Ruby Wing Tide

Tide is another polish from the Ruby Wing 2012 colour changing collection.  The name doesn't seem to match the polish, to me tide is associated with the sea and should be blue/teal/green/grey coloured.

Ruby Wing Tide - Shade/Inside

Ruby Wing Tide - Outside/Sunshine

Inside Tide is iridescent glitter inside a very very pale pink see through jelly like base. Outside and under UV light Tide darkens and turns into a dark pink/red. The glitter is harder to see and becomes slightly matte.  This one is interesting because inside feels like it should just be a top coat, but I think any base colour used may alter the colour the polish turns outside.

Some of the Ruby wing polishes are currently on sale in New Zealand for NZ$9.90 at USANailsOnline (but Tide is still $19.90).

Ozotic Beam 906

Ozotic 906 is from the 2012 Beam collection. This is the purple to pink version of the four polishes from this collection.  This collection was "Inspired by 'reflecting luminous light beams' hence the moonlight colours with sparks!"

Ozotic 906 over black - sunshine

Ozotic 906 over black - natural light

Ozotic 906 over black - natural light

This is two coats of Beam 906 over a black creme.  It is has multicoloured glass flecks that flash from pink to purple.  It is very delicate looking in the bottle, but kind of mesmerizing to watch all day long.

This is available in New Zealand from Gracie Lou.

Ruby Wing Myth

Myth is another colour changing polish from Ruby Wing.  Luckily we actually have some sun here at the moment, so I was able to swatch this.  It has not really been a great summer so far yet.

Ruby Wing Myth - shade

Ruby Wing Myth - sunshine

This is three coats. It applies nicely like a regular creme polish.  Three coats was needed as it was still a bit sheer after only two.  This is a dusty light pink inside or in the shade. In the sun it darkens to a dusty mauve pink.  It takes between 30 and 60 seconds to full change in the sun, and a little longer to fade in the shade back to the lighter pink.  It is really cool to watch.

You can find Ruby Wing polishes for sale in New Zealand here.

Color Club Cloud Nine

Color Club Cloud Nine - Sunshine

Cloud Nine is the light pink holographic polish released recently by Color Club as past of the Halo Hues collection.  It is a light pink linear holographic.  This is two coats.  It applies nicely and dries quickly.  The holographic-ness in this is very strong. Even indoors they look holographic and outside in the sun it blows your mind.

There was a lot of hype around the release of this collection in America. It was delayed for a time and we can only assume it was to perfect the formula or increase the production of this collection.  Halo Hues are available in North America now.  The plan is for them to be released early next year in New Zealand.

OPI Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It

OPI Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It is the second polish I bought from the Vintage Minnie Mouse collection a few weeks ago.  It is little light pink hearts in a clear base of light pink glitter, that looks similar to a glass effect polish once on the nail.

OPI Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It over OPI I'm All Ears - Natural Light

OPI Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It over Black - Sunshine

I like the way the pink looks over the black, it shows up more than it does over the pink.  This was two coats over a black creme.

To be honest I found the hearts in this polish very difficult. I had to fish them out of the bottle and try and place them individually on the nail.  The hearts seem to sink to the bottom of the bottle.

OPI I'm All Ears

So in about 5 weeks time I will be at Disneyland! and I am SO EXCITED!!!!! I love Disneyland. I have been once before when I was 23 and I thought it was Amazing. I am a complete Disney nut. I have pretty much every Disney movie on DVD.

So when OPI came out with the Vintage Minnie Mouse collection I had to get them all. I was going to wait until I actually got to Disneyland, but a bad day at work and a sale at Farmers a few weeks ago saw me get two out of the collection.

OPI I'm All Ears - Natural Light

OPI I'm All Ears - Sunshine

This is three coats. I'm All Ears is a cute glass effect polish in a bright medium pinky red colour.  I am surprised I didn't already have something like this in my collection, but it is unique for me.  This is almost like a jelly polish, and is quite see through until you build up the layers.

Here is me in October 2009 at Disneyland with Minnie Mouse

Spotted in NZ: OPI Vintage Minnie Mouse

I had an absolutely terrible day at work today. So I went shopping at lunch (my day got worse after lunch but I wont bore you with the details) to try and cheer myself up.

I spotted the new OPI Vintage Minnie Mouse collection at Farmers.  It contains 4 pink polishes.

Left to Right: Nothin' Mousie 'bout it, I'm all ears, If You Moust You Moust, The Color of Minnie

I was planning on picking up the Vintage Minnie Mouse collection when I am at Disneyland next month, but after my bad day and the fact that Farmers had a buy 2 get one free for Beauty Club members, I picked up Nothin' Mousie 'bout it, I'm all ears and Every Month is Oktoberfest, as well as Orly Mermaid Tale.

Models Own Pinky Brown

Models Own Pinky Brown - Natural Light

Models Own Pinky Brown - Natural Light

Pink Brown is another duochrome polish from last years Models Own Beetle Juice collection.  This one is a glass effect polish, which goes from a mauvey pink to a medium golden brown.  This is three coats.  It dries in a regular amount of time.  I found all of the polishes in this collection quite runny so you need to make sure you don't have too much polish on the brush when you apply it so as not to flood your cuticles.

Orly and Valentines Pinks

Left to Right: Passionfruit, Cotton Candy, Forever Crimson, Butterflies

I spotted this the other day in Farmers.
It appears to just be a re-promote of pink polishes for valentines day.
None of these colours are new.

This may be my last post for a wee while. Our wedding is in five days and I have a lot to do. I have one day left of work to make it through and then 11 days off. Wish me luck!

Sally Hansen Be-Jeweled

I'm getting a bit behind on posting all of my NOTDs. I have been changing my polish pretty much everyday during the week but then can not always be bothered posting them. My bad.

This is last Sundays NOTD.

Sally Hansen Be-Jeweled - Sunshine

Sally Hansen Be-Jeweled - Shade

This is from the 2011 Gem Crush glitter collection that Lisa bought back from America for me. This is three coats. It is a light purple glitter in a clear base, with bigger light pink bits of glitter. i loved the way is sparkles in the sun. It is really pretty.

I was doing my nails with this colour on Sunday when my mum turned up 30 minutes earlier than she was supposed to (we were going out to do wedding stuff) and I didn't have time to put a top coat over this glitter. The polish lasted well with no chips at all, but was bumpy and not smooth at all. But as i found out later on in the week whilst wearing another polish from this collection with layers of Zoya Armour and Seche Vite was that whole fingers of polish were flaking off at once. So I think they last best with no top coat, but I need to get used to them being bumpy and not smooth.

16 more sleeps to go!

Nicole by OPI Kim-Pletely in Love

My wedding is now only 17 days away now and I am still trying to figure out what to wear on my nails. I want a light pink/nude colour that is jelly like and makes my nails look natural but still pretty.

I bought Kim-pletely in Love last week when I discovered the new Nicole by OPI stand at Farmers.

Nicole by OPI Kim-pletely in Love - Sunshine

Nicole by OPI Kim-pletely in Love - Shade

This is three coats. It is a gorgeous light pink with a blue shimmer running through it. It is really pretty.

I was wearing this colour for my final dress fitting on Monday. Although it is pretty and close to what I am wanting, I decided it was too pink for my wedding day. So the hunt continues.
