Models Own Golden Green

Models Own Golden Green - Sunshine

Golden Green is from the Models Own 2011 Bettle Juice Collection.  This is a collection of 5 duochrome polishes. Golden green is a grass green base that flashes golden yellow. The duochrome is pretty evident all the time.  The base has a shimmery metallic finish. This is three coats.

You can order these from the Models Own website and have them delivered to New Zealand pretty quick. They are much cheaper than polishes in New Zealand, although Models Own is not B3F.

A England Princess Sabra (Tristam eyes)

I need to make the most of the sun we have left in New Zealand before winter sets in. Each weekend I hope for sun, as its the only time I can photograph polishes outside. By the time I get home from work each night the sun is gone and its freezing cold.

Luckily there was a little bit of sun the other day and I managed to get these swatches done of  A England's Princess Sabra (Tristam Eyes). FYI Tristam is Adina's (the owner of A England) cat - you can find pictures of him on the A England Facebook page.

The A England website says that Princess Sabra (Tristam Eyes) is:
The heart-stoppingly beautiful daughter of the king,
whose misfortune it was to have her name drawn as the next sacrificial victim of the dragon.

The color is described as:
Alluringly feline golden olive bronzite
the sacrificial Princess constantly shifts with her elusive, myriad hues.

To me it is a pretty olive green holographic polish. This was two coats. The formula is perfection and dry time is great. In the shade it is a soft olive colour, but in the sunshine turns into a magical golden holographic rainbow of awesomeness.

Happy St Patrick's Day!

Doing this I realised that I still have a lot of greens I have never swatched. Im thinking that while I try to save up for my big trip to Canada and America in September/October I go on a no buy and try and swatch some more of the polishes I already own. It will be hard as there is so many great collections being produced at the moment. But if I don't buy them now, I can get the cheaper while in America. Grrrrrrr its so hard!

A England Saint George

Unfortunately my nails are taking a while longer than I hoped to recover, so at the moment they are supper short nubbins. But nubbins look great in dark colours so I thought since it was sunny today when I got home from work I would try out A England Saint George.

This polish has got to be one of my all time favourites ever! And in a collection of almost 600 polishes this is a big deal.

A England released the Legend collection at the start of this year. It contains 7 polishes, 6 of which are holographic.

According to the A England website Saint George was a:

Bearer of a valiant & courageous heart, this fathomless teal reveals the strength of the brave knight's convictions with his gleaming, fiery core.

A England Saint George - Sunshine

A England Saint George - Shade

This is a dark teal polish that in the sun sparkles an awesome rainbow. I had to compress these pictures so you cant see the rainbows as well as you can in real life. This is two coats, although you could get away with just one. The formula is perfect and dry time is quick. A England polishes always seem to have great forumlas and are super easy to apply.

A England polishes are available from the website http://www.a-england.co.uk/9-the-legend. Shipping is quite often free and is super fast (especially all the way to New Zealand). These work out to be about NZ$17 a polish.

Color Club New Zealand announced that Foiled collection will be the Autumn release in New Zealand. The Foiled Collection is six luxurious liquid shades with a chrome-like shine and the look of molten metal. Color Club’s Foiled Collection will be available in New Zealand from 20th February 2012.

The following swatches are all two coats. The application is easy and the dry time on these is super quick. You can dip the brush in the polish once and paint a whole hand load of fingers.

Models Own Peacock Green

This is one of my favourite polishes of 2011. I'm not sure when exactly it was released by Models Own, but I only got it this year.

This is three coats. It is a Green/Teal/Blue that will mesmerism you with all the beautiful colours hidden inside it. I couldn't stop staring at my nails all day when I wore this. It looks a little more green in real life (especially in the bottle).

Christmas NOTD - Fresh Frog of Bel Air

Merry Christmas everyone!!!!
Hope you all had/are having a great day!

It is now boxing day here, and we are trying to decide if we brave the malls and visit the boxing day sales or not (for those in the US, boxing day sales here are kind of like your Black Friday sales, but on a smaller scale as we are only a country of 4 million people)

OPI Fresh Frog of Bel Air over China Glaze Jolly Holly - Natural Light

OPI Fresh Frog of Bel Air over China Glaze Jolly Holly - Sunshine

These two greens are a great match for each other. This is one coat of Fresh Frog of Bel Air over two coats of China Glaze Jolly Holly (from last years Holiday collection). Fresh Frog of Bel Air really does appear to me as a top coat glitter instead of a stand alone polish.

OPI Fresh Frog of Bel Air - Natural Light

I am not a fan of this by itself at all. This is three coats. This is the only glitter I got from the OPI Holiday Muppet collection. I think my problem with this is that its not glitter dense enough and the bigger silver bits of glitter don't really appear to me.

Models Own Evergreen

I love a green polish and I was looking forward to getting this one from Models own. a green polish is hard to get right, and I'm not sure the completely got this one right.

This is Models Own Evergreen.

Models Own Evergreen - Sunshine

Models Own Evergreen - Natural Light

This is three coats. The formula is great and smooth and dries quickly. Its a pretty medium green shimmer that has a hint of metallicness about it. But the colour doesn't really pop and make me say wow! I think it needs to be slightly darker and more complex. I just feel meh about it. I suppose that is what happens when you order polishes from the other side of the world on the internet.
