I'm still here!

Sorry for the lack of posts lately.

I just spent four days in Melbourne Australia and am still recovering from jet lag.
I should have a brand new post for you all tomorrow about my trip and my nail polish hunting adventures in Australia.

Color Club Rebel Debutante Day 2: High Society

Color Club High Society - natural light

Color Club High Society - sunshine

High Society is a slightly darker gray than What are you wearing? It is a medium taupe shade. I think I like this better of the two grays in this collection. This is three coats. It went on smooth and has a high shine. Again another great colour for autumn/fall and very sophisticated looking.

If you live in New Zealand and want to win the whole Rebel Debutante collection thanks to Color Club you can click here to enter.

New Zealand Earthquake update

So for those who don't know I live in New Zealand. We are quite a small country made up of three islands. We have a population of about 4 million. I live in Wellington which is the capital and the center of the country.

Today Christchurch had a 6.3 magnitude aftershock for the first earthquake they had in September last year.

I was at work when it happened and had to wait 3 hours to find out if my brother who lives in Christchurch was OK. Luckily he is OK and is planning to leave the city for the next week.

So far 65 are confirmed dead and the city is destroyed. Our local media website is a great place to check out if you are interested/concerned www.stuff.co.nz. For a little country like ours this is a massive deal. Two out of our four TV channels are playing news all day long.

Hope all are well and my heart goes out to all my New Zealand followers at this time. xoxo

Color Club Rebel Debutante Day 1: Who are you wearing?

The next 7 days are dedicated to the Color Club Rebel Debutant collection.

Color Club Rebel Debutante Day 1: Who are you wearing?

Color Club Who are you wearing? - natural light

Color Club Who are you wearing? - sunshine

This is a very light (almost white) gray. This is three coats. It is a little on the runny side but still easy to work with. Dry time is quite reasonable for all polishes in this collection. This seems like a great colour to wear in autumn/fall and very work appropriate, especially with blazers coming out in this colour in all the shops at the moment.

OPI Mad as a Hatter + 200th post

Todays post is post number 200! We have almost made it to a year and I am so grateful for all of you for reading and following!

So for something special to celebrate the 200th post I am wearing the amazingly awesome Mad as a Hatter from 2010's Alice in Wonderland collection.

OPI Mad as a Hatter - Sunshine

Enlarge the pictures to see all the different colours of glitter in the polish.

This is the polish that set off the 2010 Glitter trend. It has purple and silver and pink and blue and yellow and orange and almost every colour you can put into a polish. A pain to get off but totally worth it. This polish is now on the HTF list as it was a limited edition. It is now selling for alot of money on ebay. Some people are still lucky enough to find it in dustys (Salons that sell older and used polishes)

Hope your having a good weekend. It is really sunny and hot here today and I am going to be stuck inside all day :(

OPI Shootout at the O.K. Coral

Hello lovely ladies.

Shootout At The O.K. Coral was a re-release from the American Collection (1995) as part of the Colorcopia collection from 2009.

It is one of my go to polishes when I don't know what to wear. And recently I got a top for work that matches perfectly with it.

I bought this from Jeans West about a month ago. It is a great colour. It is brighter in real life. I went back and bought the blue one yesterday as I love the top so i figured if it suits me I should get them all.

Here you can see the shimmer better if you enlarge it

This is after 24 hours of wear at work. the little bits of tip wear a across between shrinkage from my top coat and wear.

I really like this polish because it applies more like a jelly polish. It seems like a cross between a shimmer and a jelly. This is three coats and is still a little opaque. But it is supper easy to work with. The shimmer is an iridescent purple-ish colour.

Valentines Day Mani

Happy Valentines Day!

My valentines mani took a while to do. I kept changing my mind and in the end had to give up and stop for a couple of hours before restarting. In the end I went for a rather simple konad and glitter combination.

This is three coats of OPI I think in pink from the 2010 Soft shades collection.

My ring finger was stamped with a heart design from konad plate m59 done with OPI Thanks so muchness from the 2010 Alice in Wonderland collection.

A final top coat of Color Club Hot Couture was added to make it sparkle.

I love tatty teddy bears! They are super cute. I saw this tatty teddy in a shop about a month ago and told Chris this is what I wanted for valentines day. He actually got it for me :)

OPI Pirates of the Caribbean Collection

This year OPI is releasing a collection for the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie. This continues on from their collaborations with Alice in Wonderland and Shrek last year.

Picture thanks to Claire at www.thebeautyscoop.co.uk/

These are all creme pastel colours. Who would have thought to associate pastels with pirates? I kind of imagined vampy purples and grungy greens. But in saying that all that the regular women in that time period wore pastels (I'm thinking back to the first movie where Keira was wearing giant big dresses in pastels with a giant pile of hair on her head)

Mermaid Tears : Light pastel seagreen
Stranger Tides : Lightest pastel yellow
Planks a Lot : Pastel muted purple
Sparrow Me the Drama : Smoky purple-pink
Scull and Glossbones : Pearly white shimmer
Steady as She Rose : Delicate rose pink

And of course they have added another shatter colour to the collection, with a silver shatter top coat! This is one I have to have!

This seems quite similar in the way they did the Shrek collection, a collection of 6 cremes. Some with a different finish would have been nice now that OPI has got us all addicted to glitter thanks to the Burlesque collection. Although I must admit from what I have seen these 6 cremes all look great with the silver shatter over the top.

Hope your having a great weekend.

Nicole by OPI Nicole...Spotted!

Fun fact: My middle name is Nicole. You learn something every day don't you!

This was another polish sent to me by Smoochiefrog from manicure mommas. She answered my call and granted my wish for the Nicole OPI Gossip Girl collection.

Nicole by OPI Nicole...Spotted! - natural light

Looking at the outside of this bottle it looks like an almost perfect match for China Glazes Atlantis. But its not. Nicole...Spotted! is much much more sheer. This is three coats. I think I actually like it better than Atlantis because it is more subtle. As you can see it can be worn by itself but will also make a great glitter top coat. It is silver and teal glitter floating in a teal/blue base filled with tiny bits of teal glitter.

I think I'm going to save the rest of this Gossip Girl collection for autumn/winter as it is made up of dark deep teal/blue colours.

Milani 3D Holographic Collection

In November I completed my first nail polish swap with the amazing Tina aka smoochiefrog from Manicure Mommas. She very kindly sent me the Nicole Gossip Girl collection and the surprise was the whole entire Milani 3D Holographic collection. This collection consists of 6 holographic colours.

Left to Right: Milani Hi-Res, Digital, 3D, Hi-Tech, Cyberspace and HD

These polishes are AMAZING! the holographic-ness of them is awesome. They don't look that sparkly from the outside of the bottle, but once you put them on they are great! I think they are the best holographic polishes I own at the moment (better than the China Glaze OMG collection! and that is saying a lot)
Milani HD - Shade

Milani HD - Sunshine

Milani 3D - Shade

Milani Digital - Shade

Milani Digital - Sunshine

Milani Cyberspace - Shade

Milani Cyberspace - Sunshine

Milani Hi-Tech - Shade

Milani Hi-Tech - Sunshine

Milani Hi-Res - Shade

Milani Hi-Res - Sunshine

As you can see from enlarging any of the pictures that are in the sun that these are amazing! They are still pretty in the shade though. All of these were 3 coats (except from HD which was 4 coats). Easy application with a good brush. HD could be used as a holographic topcoat as is quite sheer for the first coat/2coats.

Milani polishes are not sold in New Zealand. Your best options is to swap or buy online to get some of these.
